How Papaya Works as Constipation Remedy
Papayas have been known for centuries for their great health benefits, including as a constipation remedy. One of the most important things to note about papaya is that it helps our body with digestion by supplying essential enzymes.
If you have already tried different types of treatments with less than hoped for results, then you are going to be pleasantly surprised by how papaya is going to work for you. It’s like magic. It will cleanse and wash out fecal matter that has built up along your colon walls. As a result, you’re going to feel clean and refreshed.

Now what makes this fruit so unique that it works wonders even in treating the most painful and chronic constipation? The fruit and other parts of the papaya tree contain papains, which are a type of enzyme that easily digests proteins. The fiber in the fruit helps remove fecal matter from the colon. Some of the nutrients found in papaya are Vitamin C, A, K and E, folate, potassium and dietary fiber. Papaya is soft and has a butter-like taste. It is found throughout the year in grocery stores. The fiber found in papaya has been shown to prevent colon cancer by expelling cancer causing toxins from the colon.
One thing I like about papaya is that there are so many different ways to enjoy it. You can eat it as a snack with other fruits or you can add it to your fruit and vegetable juices. You can also eat it on its own. You will be surprised by how fast it breaks down the food and protein from your stomach and sends it to the colon. You will feel freer after having a bowel movement since it’s going to get rid of all the feces from the colon.
To get the best benefit out of this fruit eat it fresh and regularly instead of once in a while.
I have Crohns, and though most of the time I do not have trouble with constipation, it will appear sometimes even though I eat wholemeal foods. I cannot eat fruit and veg apart from salads as these bring on severe pain and sickness.Could you comment on this, bearing in mind that I have Crohns, and have had an operation for this which has improved my life. Yours sincerely. Len Hunt.
Good physical exercise as well as drinking water seem to help. You can soak two table spoons of flax seeds overnight and then blend it with a blender and drink it once a day. If you can take a table spoon of olive oil, that seems to help as well.
Hope this helps – good luck!
